I spent two weeks studying the pharma industry, and learning how PBM's actually work. Then I studied GoodRX and Blink and compared them, since many recommendations are to check both companies when purchasing.

I could not find even one thing wrong with GoodRX, and believe me I tried. But Blink I found to be a total scam. They could have bowled over Lester Holt and NBC with their puffed up publicity, but not me.

Instead of using nine PBM's that are negotiating with the pharmacy retailers and chains out there, like GoodRx does, Blink uses ONE. And it is an in-house one. They seem to be quoting the highest price they have gotten from all the pharmacies, and then charging that to you the customers. They then use a rather limited price guarantee program in case you discover their scam.

Here's a great example of something I am looking up today to use as an example...

Viagra is now available in generic for the 25, 50 and 100 mg strengths. As we all know, the retail prices have been super high for two decades now...seemingly around $80 a pill for the 100 mg ones if you just walk into a pharmacy with your script.

With Blink, they are now quoting a price for 30 tablets of the 100 mg dosage for $1,150.74. This is supposed to be their great generic price, and they are charging it no matter which pharmacy you walk in to. So by using the new generic version, you get the price down to about $38 a tablet.

Well, hold on to your hats! Because with GoodRX, I looked at the prices for my area for the exact same thing, and for the exact same strength and number of pills. With GoodRx it is only $15.51 if you fill it at Fred Meyer's, which is a major chain pharmacy in my area.

So please, check out Goodrx too. I have checked out ten other drugs, both generic and even brand name ones, and found that Blink is higher in every single one.

60 minutes should do a story on this!

Reason of review: Pricing issue.
